We have an excellent opportunity for a **Packhouse / Loadout Production Supervisor** for our Roanoke Cement Plant located in Troutville, VA. This salaried exempt position will report directly to the Production Manager. This person is responsible for all Packhouse and Loadout operations.
* Primary responsibilities include daily operations of Loadout and Packhouse, managing inventories, and troubleshooting the Loadout lanes equipment and Packhouse machine.
* Support and maintain the plant safety program through day-to-day safety contacts with employees and department safety meetings, ensure assigned work areas are safe and safety requirements are observed based on company policies and MSHA guidelines.
* Individual will work closely with suppliers to understand the systems and system programming.
* Coordinate with IT for all troubleshooting issues with automation and loadout computer systems.
* Packhouse and Loadout production planning and forecasting.
* Coordinate with maintenance department on equipment improvements, preventative maintenance and outage maintenance.
* Managing the inventory of Packhouse consumables.
* Assist in the management and continued development of Automated Control Systems for loadout and packhouse.
* Manage new improvement projects from conception to commissioning.
* Manage inspection, maintenance and coordinate repairs of all rail tracks throughout plant.
* Coordinate and schedule with Norfolk Southern incoming coal and outgoing product by rail.
* Manage employee scheduling, record keeping, Kronos, overtime management and training.
* Ensure that all products shipped meet or exceed customers' expectations regarding quality and service.
* Prepare necessary reports to inform other functions about the performance of the department
* Ensure that department remains in compliance with all applicable environmental standards.
* Ensure that a safe workplace is maintained, based on company policies and MSHA guidelines.
* Maintain area of responsibility in excellent condition, mechanically and esthetically.
* Prepare and ensure accuracy of paperwork resulting from daily business.
* Ensure that employees are working efficiently and consistently with company policies and guidelines.
* Maintain good working relationships with production, vendors and internal and external customers.
* Maintains office supplies by checking stock; anticipating requirements; placing and expediting orders as needed
Required Skills
* High School diploma and related vocational training or equivalent, plus 3 - 5 years job-related prior experience.
* Previous Cement Manufacturing experience is preferred
* Excellent interpersonal, communication and leadership skills
* Solid follow-up, planning and organizational skills
* Ability to use independent judgment in supervising personnel and in making decisions that can affect the overall operation of the plant
* High work standards and safety awareness
* Adaptable to change
* Solid coaching skills
* Able to delegate responsibility
* Solid problem-solving skills
* Previous supervisory experience preferred
